Our electrotherapy equipment is the first ever body treatment unit to successfully treat ALL disorders which effect body aesthetics, from localized adiposity, cellulite, circulatory disorders to breast flaccidity and pain relief to name but a few.
Our CORPO 02 (medically certificated) has 9 different current modes allowing the therapist to prescribe a course of treatments exactly for the clients needs. Of the 9 currents available two are causing great interest within the beauty industry, the ELECTROLIPOLYSIS current and TENS current. The much sought after ELECTROLIPOLYSIS current acts directly upon adiposities and the lipids stored in them. The current induces a number of physiological changes which are responsible for the "FAT BURNING" effect. The TENS current produces an analgesic and sedative effect, so can be used in treatment for sports injuries, superficial pain, muscular aches, neuralgia etc.
As well as 9 different current modes which may be used freely, for ease of use the therapist can use one of the 6 preset programmes which combines a variation of currents for specific problems:
PROG 0: Backbone pain – killer (TENS)

CHARACTERISTICS OF THE DIFFERENT CURRENT MODES
CURRENT MODE 1 . ELECTROLIPOLYSIS CURRENT
This is a variable low frequency current that acts directly on the adipocytes and the lipids stored in them. It destroys the lipids and helps to eliminate them. The electric field generated between the electrodes induces a number of local physiological changes which are responsible for electrolipolysis:
1.- Joule effect: When electric current flows through an area of the body, it produces heat. The increase in temperature produced by the electrolipolysis current as it passes through the body tissues is hardly perceptible, but it is enough to induce vasodilation, thereby improving blood circulation in the affected area. This stimulates the local cell metabolism so that calories are burned off and tissue trophism enhanced.
2.- Electrolytic effect. The electric field generated by the electrolipolysis current induces an ionic movement which modifies the cell membrane polarity. The cell tries to maintain the membrane's electrical potential and, in the "struggle" to do so, consumes energy.
3.- Circulation stimulating effect. The slight increase in temperature in the area (joule effect) not only helps to induce vasodilation, but the current itself also stimulates the nerva vasorum, thereby activating the microcirculation.
4.- Neurohormone effect. This is perhaps the most important active mechanism. The fatty tissue is the body's main energy store. But far from being simple storehouses, adipocytes themselves have an intense metabolic activity, forming triglycerides (liposynthesis), storing them and breaking them down (lipolysis) to meet the body's demands.
Mobilization of the reserve fats, i.e. lipolysis, is achieved by means of a hormone-dependent enzyme called triglyceride lipase which breaks down the triglycerides into fatty acids and a molecule known as glycerol.
The Neurohormone system influences lipolysis in the following way. Stimulation of the sympathetic nervous system (release of catecholamines) enhances lipolysis, whereas sectioning of the sympathetic system, or stimulation of the parasympathetic system, diminishes it.
The specific current generated in MODE 1, at the low frequency described, stimulates the sympathetic nervous system, thereby releasing catecholamines which in turn increase cyclical AMP in the adipose tissue and enhance triglyceride hydrolysis.
Studies employing this technique have shown that measurable quantities of glycerol are present in urine following treatment, when it is well known that in basal conditions glycerol is not detectable in urine. This indicates the degree to which it activates lipolysis.
To apply this mode freely, place the two electrodes from a given outlet on the problem area so that the fat that has built up is located between them.
CURRENT MODE 2 . TENSING CURRENT
This is a low frequency current that stimulates the subcutaneous connective tissue and its collagenous and elastic microfibrillae. This produces a tensing effect which helps to improve the quality, tone and appearance of the skin in the treated area.
To apply this mode freely, place the two electrodes from a given outlet on the problem area so that the flaccid, lifeless skin is located between the.
CURRENT MODE 3 . ISOMETRIC MOTOR-EXCITATORY CURRENT
A low frequency alternating current is generated with very specific characteristics in regard to pulse width, train duration and modulation which are designed to induce isometric contractions. These are muscle contractions in which the length of the muscle does not vary and therefore no movement is produced. Such contractions occur at the expense of a huge increase in muscle tone, as though attempting to lift a weight of 5,000 kilos.
The contraction itself has a firming and toning effect on the muscle fiber. In addition, however, the special characteristics of the isometric contraction have a slimming effect, as they produce a considerable increase in muscle fiber metabolism, thereby accelerating lipid metabolism and helping to mobilize the body's fat deposits.
The current passes simultaneously through all the outlets in use at any one time, so that isometric contractions are produced simultaneously in all the muscles being treated and are followed by simultaneous rest periods.
The main result of this type of muscle stimulation is a considerable increase in metabolism and the calory requirements of the muscle fibers. In order to obtain energy for this effort, the muscle resorts to the body's energy deposits, which leads to enhanced fat consumption. This mode is therefore especially suitable for use in slimming treatments.
Clinical studies carried out with this therapy have demonstrated its efficacy in slimming treatments as it enhances both weight loss and body contour reduction in comparison with other slimming techniques.
Its effectiveness lies in the fact that it acts simultaneously on subcutaneous cell tissue, muscle tissue and the circulatory system:
-It induces isometric contractions in muscles (improving muscle tone and stimulating metabolism).
-It helps mobilize fat deposits in the subcutaneous cell tissue.
-In regard to the circulatory system, it aids the reabsorption of retained interstitial liquids and produces a pumping effect in the blood vessels.
Since this is a motor-excitatory current, it should be applied bearing in mind the anatomical structure and location of the different muscles. You can use bipolar stimulation (placing one electrode at the muscle's origin and the other at the insertion point), or single pole stimulation (placing one electrode on the muscle's motor point and the other nearby, but not necessarily on the muscle being stimulated). This manual includes a number of diagrams for guidance.
CURRENT MODE 4. GENTLE PASSIVE EXERCISE BIPHASE CURRENT
This is an alternating current with short-lasting pulses of the kind classically used in passive exercise and muscle rebuilding treatments.
Each pulse train is modulated by an intensity increase ramp to make the muscle contraction produced gentler and more pleasant.
Given the length of each pulse and the frequency of the electric current employed, this motor-excitatory mode produces gentle isotonic muscular contractions.
Isotonic contractions shorten the length of the muscle fibers and thus give rise to a movement of the muscles. In fact these contractions involve normal motor movements, just like those a person performs hundreds of times a day in everyday life in raising their arms, bending their legs when walking, eating, etc.
This type of contractions is commonly used for therapeutic purposes in physiotherapy, muscle rehabilitation and passive exercise treatments to improve muscle tone. It is therefore particularly suitable for:
- Initial muscle rehabilitation treatment sessions.
- Treating wrinkles and flaccidity.
- Initial postpartum treatment sessions (for improving abdominal muscle tone)
- Flaccidity of the body and poor muscle tone.
CURRENT MODE 5. INTENSE PASSIVE EXERCISE BIPHASE CURRENT
This current is similar to the one in Mode 4, but the pulse amplitude and frequency are greater. This produces strong isotonic contractions with enhanced muscle fiber stimulation. It also acts at a greater depth below the skin.
The greater intensity of the isotonic contraction makes it essentially indicated for:
- Advanced muscle rehabilitation.
- Firming of deep-lying muscles.
- Advanced postpartum treatment sessions (for improving abdominal muscle tone).
- Flaccidity of the body and poor muscle tone.
CURRENT MODE 6. SINGLE PHASE PASSIVE EXERCISE CURRENT
This is a unidirectional current and so application electrode polarity remains constant. Also produces isotonic muscle contractions, but the application electrodes maintain a fixed polarity. Remember that in this case the negative electrode has greater stimulating power, making this mode particularly useful when seeking to focus muscle contractions in a particular muscle or group of muscles. This technique is employed relatively frequently in muscle rehabilitation treatments.
CURRENT MODE 7. SINGLE PHASE ANALGESIC CURRENT (TENS)
This is a variable, unidirectional, low-frequency current. However, unlike the other currents described above, the current is not divided into pulse trains followed by rest periods, but flows continuously throughout the entire application time. The main effect of this current is analgesic, i.e. it has the capacity to calm pain. There are two basic theories regarding its action mechanism. One is that it interferes with the pain message by acting at the level of the sensory nerve. According to the other, it acts at the medullar level, preventing pain stimuli from reaching the cerebral cortex. At all events, clinical practice has amply demonstrated its efficacy in treating pain. It allows patients taking strong doses of painkilling drugs gradually to reduce the amount they have been taking and in some cases do without such drugs altogether. The analgesic effect of this current makes it indicated for: - Localized pain - the more superficial the pain, the greater the effect. - Post-traumatic pain. - Post-operative pain. - Pain in bones and joints. - Neuralgia, sciatica, lumbago.- Pain caused by sprains, strains and bruises. It should be pointed out that electro-analgesia has very little or no effect on deep-lying, visceral or generalized pain. It is not necessary to bear in mind anatomical criteria when employing this mode. Usual practice consists in placing the two electrodes on either side of the painful area so that this area comes within the current's radius of action. It can also be applied following the nerve route of the affected area.
CURRENT MODE 8. BIPOLAR INTERFERENTIAL CURRENT
This mode generates a medium frequency (4,000 Hz) current with certain distinct advantages over low frequency currents:
- no negative surface effects (no risk of hypothermia or electrolytic effects on the skin)
- such currents are more easily conducted through the skin as it offers less resistance to them
- these currents are better tolerated than low frequency currents - such currents can be applied at higher intensities
- these currents act on deeper-lying layers of tissue
In addition, however, the CORPO-02-M modulates the basic 4,000 Hz frequency by alternately increasing and decreasing its amplitude. The frequency of this modulation coincides with the frequencies used in low frequency electrotherapy. In particular, the modulation frequency employed in the CORPO-02-M is between 5 and 200 Hz, which makes it possible to obtain all the effects associated with low frequency, but with the advantages listed above plus the specific effects of medium frequency:
- Pain reduction
- Normalization of the neurovegetative balance
- Improved circulation
- Action on muscles.
CURRENT MODE 9. BIPOLAR INTERFERENTIAL CURRENT WITH EMISSION AND REST PERIODS
This is in fact the same current as described in mode 8 above, but in this mode it is emitted in a non-continuous manner, emission periods alternating with rest periods.
This emission mode is designed to enhance its effect on the muscles by producing contraction periods followed by rest periods in order to:
- Improve muscle tone
- Improve circulation
- Strengthen the muscles
- Relax the muscles
